Another Motion Capture Fight Demo Day At Day 1 Studios!

Andy emailed Emmanuel back saying he need some help again with pre-visualizations and fight animations to demo out a new system being brought in from Motion Analysis Corp. (Who have done work on films such as I Am Legend, Chronicles of Riddick, and Sky Captain: World of Tomorrow, as well as Fight Science for the Discovery Channel) and Emmanuel was happy to oblige. This time around Shawn couldn't come out because of work related reasons, so Emmanuel brought in Keith to join in on the fun! So Keith and Emmanuel went out and it was a blast of a time as usual. Dance For Alliance Charity Event at Crobar, sponsored by Aveda, featuring LBP Member Jessie Bayani!

On Saturday, April 27th, Crobar Chicago hosted the 1st Annual Dance for Alliance presented by Aveda Northbrook Court. The event aimed to raise funds and awareness for the Alliance for the Great Lakes Foundation. The organization strives to restore and protect the Great Lakes region through a variety of methods including education, volunteering, and events. Attendees on Saturday showed support by purchasing tickets, making donations at the door, and wearing blue to promote the clean water cause.

There were performances by local dance and martial arts groups which kicked off the event at 10pm. LBP Member Jessie Bayani performed with the Extreme Wushu Team, with whom he regularly trains with. You can view photos from the event below.

The King and The Bear at The Talking Pictures Film Festival

"The King and The Bear" trailer was recut and submitted by the "Bear" himself, John Psathas, as a short film parody trailer to the short film section of Evanston's first international film festival, The Talking Pictures Film Festival. It was chosen as an official selection and is scheduled to premiere May 1st and 3rd. Tony Reddix, Keith Min, and Emmanuel Manzanares attended the opening night premiere of the short films section, which was held at the After Hours Video Store. The next premiere will be Sunday, May 3rd at the Boocoo Cultural Center and Cafe. The trailer got a good audience reaction for the trailer and they even did an encore! Day 1 Studios Motion Capture Fight Demo

Emmanuel and Shawn were hired recently by Day 1 Studios to perform some fight animation demos for a new game that is in pre-production development. Details are scarce for legal reasons, but essentially they were looking for movements and locks/takedowns against multiple opponents. So Emmanuel and Shawn came in and worked out some scenarios for them as well as performing the moves they wanted to see. They were wonderful to work with and hopefully will be contacting LBP in the future for more fight choreography consulting and motion capture. Special thanks to Andy Konieczny, Tony Huynh, and Joe Van Den Heuvel at Day 1 Studios for the great day, Alysha Wheeler at Amax Entertainment for hiring us, and our good friend Jon Lee Brody for the referral!
