Check out our fight practice inspired by the hit foreign film "The Raid: Redemption"!

Recently during one of our stunt practices, we played around with the idea of utilizing CQC, or close quarter combat techniques in a fight scene, and relying less on full on exchanges, and more on self-defense or realistic situations. You see this quite frequently since the start of the Bourne series, leading up to the reboots of James Bond (Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace), and more frequently, the films Taken, Book of Eli, Man From Nowhere, and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.

With the release of the recent foreign hit, The Raid: Redemption, we decided to try our hand at this type of choreography, and mix some concepts used in this film (CQC/Silat/SWAT Self-Defense) and mix it with other concepts used in the referenced films above and here's what we came up with:

Performers
Shawn Bernal (SWAT GUY)
Brendon Huor (ATTACKER)

Fight Choreography by
Emmanuel Manzanares

Shot/Edited/Directed by
Emmanuel Manzanares

We shot this in about 3 hours, with fight choreography and story concept made up on the fly. Nothing was sped up or tampered with in post (this was shot in 24frames, 720p HD video) besides color correction, and this is our first time attempting this type of action design.

Here's some of the examples we based our concepts off of:

Hope you enjoy and let us know what you think of it! We'd definitely like to do more in the future.
